What is the Stark County Veterans Memorial mission statement?

“THE STARK COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL IS DEDICATED TO ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN OF STARK COUNTY WHO HAVE HONORABLY SERVED IN OUR NATION’S MILITARY. WE WILL BE FOREVER INDEBTED TO THESE MEN AND WOMEN AND WILL FOREVER OWE SPECIAL GRATITUDE TO THOSE WHO GAVE ALL TO PROTECT THE FREEDOMS WE ENJOY.”

DONATIONS

Does the Stark County Veterans Memorial Association accept donations? Yes.

A donation form, GIFTING LEVELS, is available as a PDF form, and is available on our website. All donations are acknowledged with a letter of receipt. We are not set up to accept gifts by credit card.

Are donations tax deductible? Yes. The Stark County Veterans Memorial Association is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

What are donations used for? Donations are used for maintenance, upkeep, and enhancements.

Can I make a memorial or honorary donation? Yes. Simply include a note along with your gift as to whom you wish to recognize.

What if I wish to make more than one donation? Donations are cumulative and are recognized at several gifting levels.

MEMORIAL TABLETS

Who are the servicemen and women recognized on the tablets? The service men and women are Stark County veterans who have honorably served our country in wartime or peacetime.

Can additional names be added to the tablets? Yes. The memorial was designed to allow space for adding the names of United States Military veterans who served in the past as well as in those who serve in the future.

How can names be submitted? Additional names can be submitted using the form MEMORIAL APPLICATION FOR RECOGNITION, available as a PDF form on our website. The

application outlines eligibility criteria pertaining to the Stark County Veterans Memorial. All applications are subject to review and approval by the Stark County Veterans Memorial Association.

Is there a charge for adding names? SCVMA requests a donation to cover the expense of engraving the memorial.

When will the additional names be engraved onto the tablets? SCVMA contracts with a professional monument firm to do the engraving. Typically, a minimum number of names is reached before the company prepares the templates per SCVMA’s specifications, at which time they schedule a trip to Dickinson to complete the work.

Is there special recognition for our heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice? Appropriate symbols are noted next to our heroes: Prisoners of War, Missing In Action, Killed In Action, and Died In Service.

VETERANS PAVILION

What is the Veterans Pavilion used for? The Pavilion was built in 2018 as a community gathering place. It is available for rent to individuals, groups, and other organizations. It also serves as a meeting place for local veteran organizations.

How does one go about renting the Pavilion? Contact Dickinson Parks and Recreation.

Is the adjacent storage building available to the public? No

PERSONALIZED BRICK

Can a person get a personalized brick? The bricks were part of the original Memorial design, which has been completed. Therefore, the Buy-A-Brick program has been discontinued.

MEMORIAL BENCHES

Can a person get a memorial bench? The Memorial Benches were part of the original Memorial design, which has been completed.
